The CE Mark indicates that the product it is affixed to conforms to all relevant essential requirements and other applicable provisions that have been imposed upon it by means of European directives. CE marking means:
Free movement of the product within the EFTA & European Union (EU) single market
The product it is affixed to conforms to all relevant essential requirements and other applicable provisions that have been imposed upon it by means of European directives, and that the product has been subject to the appropriate conformity assessment procedure(s)
It substitutes each individual country's norms
It establishes a common level of procedures and testing
It is the only valid accreditation for the European Union
CE Marking is not a quality mark; rather, it is a “technical passport”
CE Marking is mandatory for the product it applies to, and can co-exist with voluntary quality markings
Council Directive 89/106/EEC “Construction Products Directive” states the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of the Member States relating to construction products. The directive applies to all construction products that are produced for, or incorporated within, building and civil engineering construction works. It harmonizes all construction products subject to regulatory controls for CE marking purposes.
