COATING
In this process, the aluminium profiles undergo a preliminary pretreatment and conversion layer which guarantee the adherence of the paint, according to the SEASIDE CLASS specifications.
Powder coating is an electrostatic process where powder is deposited on the aluminium. Then it is heated for a specific amount of time to ensure adequate polymerisation. This process makes the surface highly weather resistant.
Alumitran offers a wide range of coating finishes as per RAL colour chart, as well as other types of coatings which give the aluminium a visual aspect similar to that of wood.

• Sublichromia
A wood grain effect by means of sublichromia can be achieved through a first pre-treatment of the material in a chemical bath followed by a polyester or polyurethane (Tgic-free) powder coating using electrostatic equipment.
The aluminium profile undergoes a heat transfer process, sometimes also called thermal impression. This consists of a thermal reaction in which a substance passes from a solid state into a gas; later, after cooling, it consolidates within a synthetic coat, which is the base of the previously applied paint.
The following step is a process which consists of rolling the profile in a transfer film, which has the dye and the celluloid-based resins, and then inserting it in a transport trolley which has siliconized rubber membranes whose function is to create a vacuum which favours the perfect adaptation to the profiles' forms. Later, this trolley is inserted into an oven with a temperature of 190º-210ºC where the actual sublichromia is carried out.
There are different types of transfer films that, combined with the colours available for the base powder coating, allow different types of wood grain finishes, such as pine, walnut, oak, sapele, etc.• Ezy®
Alumitran has added to its production processes, as a novelty in the Spanish market, the newest system for the decorative wood grain effect finish for aluminium profiles, called EZY®. This process is carried out using a “powder on powder” coating technology by means of a drum, and guarantees a complete treatment for all sides of the profile. The EZY® system not only gives a perfect surface finish; also, and not least important, it is a process certified by Qualicoat, which means that it assures the best quality available for coating. This type of coating allows something which up to now was unthinkable – several layers of paint, using one of them to imitate the wood grain.
ANODIZING
This is a process whereby the surface of the profile is protected against corrosion by means of an oxidation process based on electrolysis, acting on the aluminium material and forming a film that is integral with the aluminium and not an applied layer. This anodic layer can vary between 5 and 25 microns.
The anodic film further insulates the aluminium surface and gives the aluminium a decorative, metallic appearance through a wide variety of colours, obtained by a series of different baths of tin salts. The usual finishes are Inox, Ivory, gold, Bronze, Black, Blue and Green, in matt, lustre, brushed or polished tones.
